I recently came across this great website. Great concept. Great articles. Why hadn’t I heard of it before?
Check out MajoringInMusic.Com. And more specifically, check out Music Therapy for Children with Autism.
This fall semester, I am teaching an Introduction to Music Therapy course at the Orange County School of the Arts. Most of my students are 11th and 12th graders and chose the course as one of their electives. Music therapy being such a broad spectrum field (with many populations to specialize in, many approaches, theories, etc.), we are just diving into the surface layer. My main goal is to educate about the profession and to inspire the next generation to think about various career options in the music field that isn’t teaching and isn’t performing.
Check it out and leave your thoughts below.
